ADULT EDUCATION AND TRAINING SUB LEVEL 1-3

These are post literacy qualifications.

AET SUB LEVEL 1:
In this level, students offer ONE language of instruction; ONE African language and numeracy (compulsory for all students).

AET SUB LEVEL 2:
Students offer ONE language of instruction; ONE African language, numeracy (compulsory for all students) and a choice between integrated studies and a skills programme.

AET SUB LEVEL 3:
Students offer ONE language of instruction: ONE African language, numeracy (compulsory for all students) and a choice between integrated studies and a skills programme.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The following are requirements for a student to enroll for this qualification:

  • An official learning area statement for the compulsory learning area and a language of instruction issued by a registered institution/centre; report card issued by an accredited centre; or School, proof of level of achievement or results of placement assessment administered by the centre indicating readiness for entry into the AET Sub level 1, 2 or 3 learning programmes.

  • A person must be 16 years or older

  • Certified copy of a bar coded South African Identity document (ID); or certified copy of a passport and a study permit if the student is a foreign national.

  • Proof of address

PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS
To progress to the next level, a student must obtain at least 40% in both a language of instruction and in numeracy.
